Corporate Intern
Description: The Clarus Capital Corporate Apprentice/Intern will have a dynamic role, involved in or responsible for a variety of important strategic projects across a growing, entrepreneurial organization. The Intern/Apprentice will have a unique opportunity to work closely with executive management across all functions, including Corporate Finance, Operations, Treasury, IT administration and Investment/Portfolio Management.
The Intern/Apprentice will be exposed to fundamentals of various financial markets (leveraged finance, high yield and equipment finance), financial/portfolio reporting, operations and servicing, investment considerations, securitization/asset backed securities, debt compliance management, research and data mining.
Opportunity: As part of a team of fewer than 15 total employees, the Intern/Apprentice will have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact alongside a team of veteran investment professionals and executives.
Focus: The primary goal will be to support and contribute to the completion of all assigned projects.
Hours: 20+ per week with a preference for additional hours.
Location: The position will be in-person in our downtown Boston Financial District office (this is not a remote opportunity).
Position Timing / Duration: Prefer a one year horizon, with the potential for extensions as necessary and agreeable.
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer and Controller. Will be supervised by a senior Apprentice/Intern.
Ideal Candidate: Currently enrolled Junior, Senior or Graduate Student with a passion for finance, debt capital markets, reporting and analysis, technology, computer science, database management, along with a keen interest in investment, finance and capital markets who is pursuing a dual major, major/minor and/or course concentrations across a Finance and Accounting curriculum.
Requirements:
- Minimum GPA of 3.5
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and a natural interest in building things
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Professionalism, executive presence and maturity
- Strong collaborator who works well both in team settings and autonomously
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks
- Comfort with ambiguity, flexibility and adapting to shifting priorities
- Willingness to learn and be coached
- Aptitude for problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated fluency in Microsoft Excel and Office suite
- Database management system experience including data mining, interpretation, and report creation and generation
- Patience and ability to communicate complex systems to people of all skill levels
- Demonstrated independent research skills
The following experience is not required but is a plus:
- Pursuit or progress toward a CFA, CPA or CAIA charter
- Experience in CRM platforms
- Advanced Excel manipulation skills
- Experience managing a database and/or large data sets
